tear、rip与split的区别

tear、rip与split这些动词均有“撕裂、扯破”之意。

tear : 最普通用词,指有意或无意地把布或纸等没接缝的材料撕开。可作引申用。

  • You have to be very careful with books this old because the paper tears very easily.
    对这么旧的书你得格外小心,因为它的纸张很容易撕破。
  • I tore my skirt on the chair as I stood up.
    我站起来时裙子被椅子挂破了。
  • A couple of pages had been torn out of/from the book.
    这本书有几页被人撕掉了。

rip : 侧重指用力把布料等物撕开,也可指用粗暴手段把某物撕裂。

  • His new trousers ripped when he bent down.
    他弯腰时把新裤子撑开了线。
  • I ripped my shirt on a nail.
    我的衬衫被一颗钉子划破了。
  • She excitedly ripped the package open.
    她兴奋地撕开了包裹。

split : 非正式用词,指有力的切断、劈开或撕裂的动作。

  • The prize was split between Susan and Kate.
    这笔奖金被苏珊和凯特平分了。
  • Split the aubergines in half and cover with breadcrumbs.
    把茄子切成两半,裹上面包屑。
  • The teacher split the children (up) into three groups.
    老师把孩子们分成3组。
