continue的用法

continue有继续、连续、维持、持续等意思，词性有及物动词和不及物动词。需要注意：continue to do sth是做完一件再做别的；continue doing sth是做一件事中断后再继续做这件事。

及物动词用法

1. 使继续；使延伸[+v-ing][+to-v]

I was allowed to continue using the library.

我获准继续使用该图书馆。

They continued to meet every week.

他们继续每周见面。

He continued his writing for another year.

他又继续写了一年。

2. 使留任

The company continued him in office for another year.

公司留他继续任职了一年。

3. 继续说

"Don't worry about Jack," she continued.

"不必担心杰克,"她继续说道。

4. 【律】延期(诉讼)

The judge continued the case until next Friday.

法官推迟到下个星期五审理该案。

不及物动词用法

1. 继续，持续，延伸[(+with)]

The forest continues for miles.

森林绵延数英里。

2. 留，仍旧

The weather continues cold.

天气还是冷。
